MAKING THE BEST OF A LONG WEEKEND

It's crazy to think that the summer is already half over. As a teacher, I look forward to the break from teaching because it means I get to spend a lot more time with the littles. June, however, was a whirlwind. Due to unanticipated medical costs for my son, I've picked up extra work with my school district. I also had to travel to Pennsylvania for eight days as part of my low-residency graduate program. All that to say, I haven't had as much time with my kids as I had hoped.

We decided to make the best of the long holiday weekend and really pack in the fun. Our first stop: the movie theatre, where my two-year-old twins and five-month-old son did surprisingly well! Then, a lunch date, of course. The girls also decorated sugar cookies, played with sparklers, spent an evening in Grammy's pool, and chased bubbles all over the sidewalk!

I can't get over how grown up these two look and act!

We did still have to cover the table in plastic wrap for cookie decorating, though. Can't risk the wood grain!

They had an absolute blast in the pool. I can't believe our youngest is already big enough to float around!

Brief interlude for some of the cutest outfits ever!

Sparklers were fun, and props to Mallerie for thinking of using plastic cups to keep their hands safe!

The aquarium was packed, so we had to stop for lunch and to rest their tiny legs.

And we closed out the weekend chasing bubbles and mastering the ziggle!

Not pictured here, we also had a movie night with Grammy and a special treat: fresh popcorn! I had the best time with them all, and I'd be remiss not to give credit to AJ, who is constantly a big help for us. Managing two toddlers and an infant can get overwhelming in a hurry, but we can always count on big sister to step in when we need her. Hooray for holiday weekends! Hooray for so much fun I can't see straight!

And now, I'm off to take a much needed nap.
