TURNING THREE (TIMES TWO)!
Earlier this week, my daughters celebrated their third birthday. As a family, we have a temporary ban on big parties, but that didn't stop us from having loads of fun!
The sun is a visual cue for them, so they started their special day by groggily asking if the sun had come up. It had. Time to get ready for school! Since they were only going for half a day and it was their birthday, I let them wear their tutus. They were beyond ecstatic.
During the morning picture, somewhat of a tradition for us, they practiced making a '3' with their fingers.
Then it was off to school. They're in separate classes, and it was a real treat for each of them to celebrate with their friends separately. In fact, it may have been the first time anyone sang Happy Birthday to just one of them! They shared "crazy applesauce" with their friends, something they talked about for the rest of the day.
I picked them up right after lunch, but the poor things were so tired they'd already fallen asleep! We stopped by the doctor for annual check-ups, which was actually great fun since they didn't have to get shots!
Next up, we took the girls to The Coop. They'd never been, and they fell in love with the ball pit immediately.
M really dug the magnetic board and PVC constructions. And what visit would be complete without spinning around on the lighted dance floor?
Then it was on to the house for a ballon fight and cake! They love living with Mrs. Cakery. She makes the yummiest treats with a personal touch!
When I think about the last three years, I struggle to put it all into words. This was their second birthday with Mallerie and her family, their first as big sisters. I got the sense that it was also the first birthday they were really aware of.
The thing that startled me most, the comment that I'll cherish most in years to come? As soon as she woke up, M said: "I want to be sixteen so I can drive."
Dear sweet everything. Slow down. Please, slow down. I don't want to rush this swelling heart.
